Activity Description

This program covers the types of hematopoietic cell transplantation (HCT) used in the treatment of blood cancers, how donor type, graft source, and conditioning intensity are chosen, overarching goals of HCT, and strategies to manage treatment side effects and long-term and late effects. The goal of this program is to focus on the team approach and help participants gain knowledge of HCT complexities, and resources for educating and supporting patients, to foster improved patient outcomes.

• • Describe the types of HCT used in the treatment of blood cancers, including autologous, allogeneic and reduced-intensity allogeneic stem cell transplantation

  • Identify the methods of stem cell collection used in patients with blood cancers

  • Explain the overarching goals of HCT for all types of blood cancers

  • Explain HCT as a treatment option for blood cancers

  • Describe strategies to manage treatment side effects as well as potential long-term and late effects of HCT

  • Describe the healthcare professional’s role in managing patients with HCT

Nursing Continuing Professional Development

Approval for nurses has been obtained by the National Office of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society under Provider Number CEP 5832 to award 2.15 continuing education contact hours through the California Board of Registered Nursing.

 

Social Worker Continuing Education

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) Provider Number 1105, is approved as an ACE provider to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Regulatory boards are the final authority on courses accepted for continuing education credit. ACE provider approval period: 12/10/2023-12/10/2026. Social workers completing this course receive 2.15 clinical continuing education credits.

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) is recognized by the New York State Education Departments State Board for Social Work as an approved provider of continuing education for licensed social workers #0117.
